1. Interview Setup & Initial Connection

We kicked off the conversation by exploring how Clayton first connected with his character’s duality. He revealed that tapping into those “safe-space” sociopathic impulses was a fun escape from day-to-day life.

2. Preparation Routine

2.1 Voice & Movement Work

Clayton experimented with a lower baritone register and slower movements—drawing inspiration from films like No Country for Old Men—to create an eerie, villainous presence.

2.2 Stunt Coordination

That vase-smash scene wasn’t just for show: with only two breakable props on hand, Clayton and the stunt team nailed it in one take. The result? A raw, unfiltered moment of chaos on screen.

3. Emotional vs. Physical Challenges

While the violence was intense, it was the emotional barricade scene—where Clayton improvised leaning into the door—that truly surprised him when he watched the final cut.

4. Collaboration & Director Insights

Director Monica provided a creative playground, trusting Clayton and his co-stars to explore new beats. That level of freedom fueled some of the movie’s most authentic moments.

5. Key Takeaways for Aspiring Actors

• Stay creative: Find joy in self-tapes and improv whenever you can.
• Have fun: Even “dark” roles can be your chance to play and experiment.
• Don’t take rejection personally: It’s rarely ever about you.
