Outlander Season 6 is finally out, but that doesn’t stop fans from scrutinizing every single interview looking for more clues in the actors’ words about what’s going to happen and more importantly what we can expect from the future. And Richard Rankin and Sophie Skelton, laughing and joking at the Outlander Season 6 premiere event, hinted at something important about Roger and Brianna!
SPOILER ALERT: The article contains spoilers on Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series and particularly on Roger and Brianna ‘s storyline
During an interview with Hey U Guys, Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin mention and joke about finding out from reading the first scrips from Outlander Season 7 that Brianna will get to drive a 70s/80s car of her own… but maybe they shouldn’t have said that, oops. To remedy the situation, the actors link the presence of that story with flashbacks…present in the books according to them.
However, as readers well know, Brianna and Roger start from their era to join Jamie and Claire in 1970. So it would not make sense to see flashbacks, non-existent in Diana Gabaldon’s books, with Brianna driving a car from the 70s/80s in Outlander’s seventh season.
The only storyline in the books that can be linked to Brianna and Roger, precisely in the 70s and 80s, is the one that sees them go back to the future to save their daughter, Amanda MacKenzie, born with a heart condition that would have killed her in the past, and that sees them move to Lallybroch. So, will we see the MacKenzies return to the future in the Outlander Season 6 finale, to then see the developments in season 7?
To better understand our theory, check out Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin’s full interview!
Announced the closure of Middlehope Castle, the location used for Lallybroch, for the filming of Outlander Season 7!
As reported on the FB page, Mary’s Meanders Scottish Tours, Middlehope Castle, the Scottish castle used as the location for our beloved Lallybroch, will be closed to the public for some specific dates during the filming of Outlander Season 7 – So, dear Outlander fans, we will see Roger and Brianna move to 1980’s Lallybroch, it’s official!
Not to mention a recent Instagram post by Sophie Skelton, depicting Richard Rankin with a decidedly ‘modern’ haircut.

Yes!! So glad they will attempt the plot with Lallybrock in the 1970’s. Very important to the rest of the books! Ànd the show. I personally think Toni and Matt try to stay close to the book plot. Ep 606 was great!
