Tom Ellis, the beloved face of Lucifer, is ready to plunge into another Netflix project the romantic comedy “Players” alongside Netflix alum Gina Rodriguez, seen in the TV series Jane the Virgin, the movies Someone Great and very recent Awake, which is already available on the US platform.
Release Date
Players will be available on Feb 14th on Netflix.
The plot
“Players” follows Chicago-based sports writer Mack (Gina Rodriguez) who has spent years devising hit “comedies” with best friend Adam (Damon Wayans Jr.) and their crew, but when she unexpectedly loses her mind completely for one of his targets (Tom Ellis), everyone must learn what it takes to go from simple scoring to playing for real.
The cast and crew of “Players”
Gina Rodriguez, Tom Ellis and Damon Wayans Jr will star. They have recently been joined by Liza Koshy, Joel Courtney and Augustus Prew.
Marc Platt and Ryan Christians produce the film for Marc Platt Productions with Ross Dinerstein for Campfire. Trish Sie directs the film from a screenplay by Whit Anderson, who has written for shows like Marvel’s Ozark and Daredevil. Rodriguez is also producing on the project. Molly Breeskin will executive produce under their I Can and I Will Productions label alongside Ross Girard for Campfire and Dan Clarke.
While Rodriguez promised that she and all others involved will “put our heart and soul into” the project, she declined to spill any further details about what fans can expect from the movie.
“I don’t want to cross the bridge till I get there, right? ‘Cause art is a journey and it’s been a long journey. The journey is not over. It is very, very far from being over,” she said. “I’ll have more for you in the future. I promise.”

After Lucifer with Chloe it is hard to picture this new character with Gina. The characters don’t seem to be matched but we will see.
I totally agree with you there. I can’t picture him with anyone else. They have a special place in my heart.
They have such a beautiful bond.
Tom Ellis will be awesome on whatever project he pursues A very talented man. As a actor & vocalist I am a massive fan. He seems a real genuine person. With A nice, caring soul. I am eagerly awaiting This film. He will smash it am sure
